Laura Johnson is a Board Certified Music Therapist who holds a Master of Music Therapy (MMT) degree from  Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from York University.  Laura is an active member of professional organizations; Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT), Music Therapy Association of Alberta (MTAA).


With over 10 years of teaching experience, Laura has developed her own style of teaching that balances improvisation, basic theory knowledge, song writing, and focuses on teaching songs and genres that are of interest to the student. This inclusive way of teaching creates a music experience that goes beyond learning sheet music and scales and promotes a lasting connection between the student and music. 


As a recent graduate from the Master of Music Therapy program at Wilfrid Laurier, Laura has worked as a student intern with a variety of populations ranging from adults with Acquired Brain Injury, Alzheimer's and Dementia, and various mental health issues such as Eating Disorder, Substance Abuse Disorder, Mood Disorders, and Personality Disorders.
